Launch of the British Newspaper Archive
Today is the launch day for the British Newspaper Archive - www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk - and there‘s lots going on to celebrate this special event!
The British Newspaper Archive is free to search, so why not visit the website and discover some of the wonderful stories that this digital Sheherazade is waiting to tell the world…
I have already found a few things about both my BECK & BUTLER families. Although it is free to search there is a fee to download.

Mundia

Just discovered this site which seems to be  something to do with ancestry.com. Well worth putting a few names in to see what comes up.

Free for a few days

Being sick with the 'flu means I am not getting out & about, sorry about last Wednesday. It does mean that I have more time to sit at my computer & find things like this

FREE Great War records at Ancestry.co.uk

Until 11.59pm (London time) on Sunday 13th November you can access many of Ancestry's World War 1 records completely free of charge, although you'll need to register at the site if you haven't already done so. My grandfather lied about his age so sometimes putting in all the information you know about a person can be just too much. Good hunting.

Workhouse woes.

Its very sad when we find some ancestors in places like this. In 1911 there were 338 people living here, some of them children including 5 whose mother seems to have died two years previously (I cannot find the father in the census or in any death register).
More pics at The Workhouse......
Here are the staff in the 1911 census

Talking 'bout Books in November

This one I picked up at Two Rocks Red Cross Op Shop for $3. Working my way through it!

These are all books I use for reference when I'm not Googling!
